Thus, then Executive Secretary Anwar A. Malang urged a visiting team of the National Economic Development Authority for the Cordillera Autonomous Region during the group’s learning tour in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) last March 6, 2013.
The purpose of the NEDA-CAR team learning visit to the region was to explore on ARMM’s breakthrough strategies, particularly on programs and project implementation, reportedly in pursuit of regional autonomous development.
“Pursue Cordillera autonomous governance that is inspired by the principles of regional autonomy which means managing your own affairs, according to your own peculiarities.” He also hinted that the charter of the NEDA-CAR under its Organic Act should reflect the popular sentiment of genuine autonomy.
Malang also took up the salient features of the Bangsamoro Framework Agreement which provides for a political entity to be enacted by Congress and later ratified though a plebiscite. Malang expressed support to the BFA and urged the visitors to support it as well.
Later, the visitors were toured and hosted at the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) - the NEDA counterpart of the ARMM. The RPDO management and employees warmly received the guests.
Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, RPDO Executive Director presented the highlights of ARMM-HELPS Convergence as the banner program of the ARMM government under the administration of Regional Governor Mujiv S. Hataman.
To fast-track development programs, ARMM-HELPS Convergence provides for social and economic services in pre-identified impoverished areas in different provinces and municipalities of the region.
The visitors through their team leader expressed their appreciation to their host especially on things they were able to learn about the region, as well as their hopes of being able to come back for future visits.
