MARAWI CITY - Eleven major infrastructure projects were visibly in various stages of implementation when the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) infrastructure staff made rounds of site visits here and in seven Lanao del Sur municipalities last month.
Engineer Macapado Benito, Chief of the RPDO Infrastructure Division, said the projects included the repair of the Cotabato-Lanao Norte Road, Boisong, Picong Section; Road Upgrading (Gravel to Paved) Pantar Diversion Road – Marawi City; Concreting of Kalaw, Marantao Road; Construction Ganassi,Tubod Madamba Road; Lake Lanao Circumferential Road, Bayang Road Section; Concreting of Lumbac- a-unayan road to Macadar; Bayang Marugong road; Concreting of Ditsaan Ramain Road; Dilabayan Bridge, Ditsaan Ramain; Lumba Bayabao Water System, and the Saguiaran – Piagapo Road
Benito said the RPDO team’s findings during the four-day visit from September 23 to 27, 2013 will be discussed in the level of Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (RPMC), and corresponding recommendations will be forwarded to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-ARMM) for actions it may deem appropriate.
He said the projects have been funded under the CY 2012 and CY 2013 annual infrastructure support fund.
The RPMC, which is chaired by the RPDO-ARMM, monitors and evaluate projects in the region on a regular basis.
Consistent with the policy directive of ARMM Governor Mujiv S. Hataman on open governance, site infrastructure monitoring is meant to ensure the physical existence of projects and essential compliance with engineering specifications and standards.
Engr. Benito said the team used geo-tagging technique in determining physical distances, elevation and global positioning system (GPS) of the infrastructure projects.
