COTABATO CITY (December 5) – Officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are determined in pursuing its reform agenda to uplift the living condition of its populace and to prepare the region for transition stage to the proposed Bangsamoro setup.
Last Thursday, the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) in partnership with the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) hosted the 3rd Regional Economic and Development Planning Board’s Quadripartite Meeting of Sectoral Committees at Golden Lace Fine Dining here.
Under Republic Act 9054, the expanded Autonomy Act, RPDO serves as the REDPB Technical Secretariat.
A Bangsamoro setup is being bilaterally crafted in the continuing peace process between the Government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
All four REDPB Sectoral Committees— RDAC on Peace and Security and Governance, REDC on Economic Development, RSDC on Social Development, and RIDC on Infrastructure Development—worked on the specific agenda of finalizing the Regional Development Plan (RDP) Midterm Update, as well as Results Matrices (RM) and the ARMM Regional Development Investment Program (RDIP) of the region.
Executive Secretary Laisa Masuhud Alamia told officials gathered during the meeting that their agencies’ sectoral priority programs and projects will serve as their “wish list” for funding support from the national government.
RPDO Executive Director Baintan Adil-Ampatuan in her opening statement reiterated on the urgency of finalizing the RDP which will be presented to the Regional Governor, being the REDPB Chairman, for approval.
“The Regional Governor is very particular on this matter, essentially because aside from our commitment to the national government, it is our people who will be benefited from this plan,” ED Ampatuan pointed out.
The RDP Midterm Update, 2014-2016 and its accompanying RDIP provide the framework of the regional development and the Hataman administration’s commitment and adherence to President Aquino’s reform agenda and policies. It also pursues the reform agenda of the Hataman administration to prepare ARMM to transition stage to the proposed Bangsamoro setup.
