The Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO-ARMM) conducted a Water and Sanitation (WatSan) Coordination Meeting last September 1, 2015 at the RPDO Conference Hall, ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.
The meeting aimed to discuss the proposed creation of a regional structure that will oversee the implementation of water and sanitation projects in ARMM.
In behalf of RPDO Executive Director Engr. Baintan A. Ampatuan, Ms. Melanie Mampen-Indar, Macro-Economic Planning Division (MEPD) Chief, presented the details of the proposal which includes the proposed composition, and functions and responsibilities of the Regional Sub-Committee for WatSan (RSCW). She also discussed about the proposal for mapping the WatSan projects in the region.
Engr. Khalid S. Dumagay, Director III of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-ARMM), said that the RSCW will be one of the best efforts of the regional government in implementing and sustaining the water and sanitation facilities in the region.
As a result, the group agreed on the creation of the RSCW in the region. They also agreed to elevate the proposal to the Regional Development Administration Committee (RDAC) for further deliberation and approval.
The meeting was attended by concerned regional line agencies such as the RPDO, DILG, DOST, DSWD, TMS-ORG, DPWH, and DAR.
