The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC), chaired by the Regional Planning and Development office (RPDO-ARMM) convened its 1st Regular Meeting for CY 2015 held last September 15, 2015 at the RPDO Conference Hall, ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.
Representatives from regional line agencies such as PSA, DSWD, DILG, DOLE, DepEd, DENR, DAF, DOT, CHED, TESDA, and RBMO attended the meeting.
Presented and discussed during the meeting were Orientation on the establishment of the RSC, Reoort on the 2014 ARMM Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and the Forthcoming Celebration of the National Statistics Month (NSM) in October of this year.
Philippine Statistics Authority-ARMM, vice chair of the RSC, led the presentation on GRDP.As presented, ARMM's 2014 GRDP slowed down from 3.8 percent in 2013 to 3.0 percent in 2014. The slowdown was due to the contraction of Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing and the deceleration of Services. It greatly affects the GRDP since AHFF continued to account for the largest share of the region’s total output at 5.8 percent. GRDP is the single most indicator used to measure the economic performance of an area.
Engr. Baintan A. Ampatuan, RSC Chair and RPDO-ARMM Executive Director, presided the meeting. She emphasized that all agencies have a crucial role in providing substantial data on the GRDP.
"We need to account all the services that the regional government provides and thus, we should prepare and submit our report on time for it to be accounted," Dir. Ampatuan added.
The NSM will be celebrated for the whole month of October and as agreed all agencies are expected to submit their activities in line with the celebration and to participate in the NSM lined-up activities.
The RSC –ARMM is a committee that will provide direction and guidance to regional/local statistical development activities and serve as the policy-making body on statistical matters in the region
