Hundreds of ARMM employees showed-off their creative sayap as they marched during the onset of the 26th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration spearheaded by the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC-ARMM)held this morning, October 1, 2015 at the ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.
The celebration was aimed at: (a) promoting, enhancing, and instilling nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society; and (b) eliciting the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
With the theme "Pagyamanin at Gamitin ang Estadistika, Kalusugan para sa Lahat ay Abot-Kamay Na," Atty. Honey Mae Mori-Subiera of the region's Office of the Solicitor General, spoke in behalf of Atty. Laisa Masuhud-Alamia, Executive Secretary. She stressed that the theme is an eye-opener to all of us that accurate statistics on health care are our guide and our steering wheel to truly respond to the needs of the communities in the region.
"The RSC is committed towards the improvement in the quality of lives thru reliable data," Atty. Subiera added.
Dir. Abdulhakeem Suod M. Barodi, PSA-ARMM Interim Regional Director, said that government planning and statistics are inseparable. The RSC has a very significant role in providing efficient data that will be of great help in implementing programs and projects on health care in the different areas in ARMM.
Engr. Mlang U. Madal, RPDO Assistant Regional Director (RPDO-ARD), delivered a message in behalf of Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, RPDO Executive Director. He emphasized that the RSC will continue to work hard in giving data to propel various government interventions.
The celebration also became more vibrant as the employees from various regional line agencies perform a sayap cheer dance showcasing their talents and promoting the use of sayap, as one of the indigenous products of ARMM.
The 26th NSM also coincides with the celebration of the 2nd World Statistics Day (WSD) on October 20, 2015 underscoring the theme “Better data. Better lives.”
The RSC-ARMM is chaired by the RPDO headed by Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, Executive Director, and co-chaired by the PSA-ARMM led by Al-Hadj Abdulhakeem Suod M. Barodi, PSA Interim Regional Director. It is a committee which aims to institute measures to strengthen the statistical capability of the local statistical system including the personnel.
