ARMM employees including the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) staff took part in the celebration of the 2015 Cooperative Month and the Centennial Anniversary of Cooperatives underscoring the theme, "Koopertiba: Ika-100 Taong Pagpupugay, Tulay sa Maunlad na Buhay" this morning, October 28, 2015 at the ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.
The celebration marked the enactment of the Rural Credit Cooperation Law, also known as Republic Act No. 2508 which mandated the organization of rural associations. The law states that cooperatives are organized to accumulate funds by means of co-operation, in order to extend their members credit on reasonable terms for exclusively agricultural operations, and to encourage thrift, activity and punctuality in meeting obligations among the members.
Mr. Dimnatang Radia, Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) ARMM Administrator, emphasized in his message the significance of the cooperatives in ARMM. "Cooperatives are instruments for boosting the lives of the people which provides economic development in the region," Mr. Radia added.
The celebration was spearheaded by the ARMM Centennial Committee, led by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), in partnership with various cooperatives of different line agencies in the region.
