In an effort to strengthen project monitoring in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC), chaired by the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) and co-chaired by the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES), conducted a three-day Orientation on Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) and Training Workshop on Geotagging for the provinces of Basilan and Sulu last November 3-5, 2015 at the Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.
Over sixty representatives from the provincial and municipal line agencies from the provinces of Basilan and Sulu such as Provincial Planning and Development Office, DepEd, DAR, DILG, DPWH, BFAR, DA, DOST, DSWD and Municipal Planning and Development Office participated in the activity.
"The RPDO has conducted series of trainings and workshops on RPMES and Geotagging participated in by the representatives from Tawi-Tawi and Maguindanao PLAs, PPDOs, and MPDOs. Now, we are down to the provinces of Basilan and Sulu to capacitate partners on RPMES and geotagging to be able to strengthen monitoring activities at the local level, thereby increasing coverage of programs and projects monitored and geotagged in the region, " Engr. Mlang U. Madal, RPDO Assistant Regional Director emphasized in his opening remarks.
Engr. Madal also encouraged the PPDCs and MPDCs to organize and strengthen their respective project monitoring committees.
Presented and discussed during the activity were the Process Flow and Reporting of RPMES, Concepts and Benefits of Geotagging, and ARMM-RPMES Database. The RPDO also facilitated a hands-on workshop on geotagging.
"All of us are grateful to the RPDO for initiating RPMES orientation and geotagging workshop. As we go back to our respective agencies, we will share what you have imparted during this activity," Mr. Benhal Akalal, Assistant PPDC of Sulu said in his message.
The activity was conducted in line with Executive Order No. 14, Series of 2014, "Reorganizing the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao."
