The Regional Sub-Committee on Water and Sanitation (RSCWS) members, together with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) staff, convened on November 18, 2015 at the RPDO Meeting Room 2, RPDO Building, ARMM Compound, Cotabato City. The meeting aimed to orient WASH partners on the committee as well as identify the committees’ functions to strengthen government interventions on Water and Sanitation (WatSan) in the region.
The meeting was facilitated by the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) in close coordination with the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG), Committee Chair, and region's Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Committee Co-chair. It was also attended by representatives from the Department of Health (DOH), UNICEF-WASH, and A Single Drop for Safe Water (ASDSW).
Ms. Louise Maule, UNICEF Chief of WASH Section, said that there is a need to have another meeting on planning with other non-government partners to harmonize efforts on WatSan projects and ensure smooth project implementation.
"The planning stage will be a great venue for integrating all efforts of different agencies. The UNICEF is willing to provide support to the committee’s planning and capacity building activities," Ms. Maule added.
The RSCWS is a sub-committee that operates under the umbrella of the Regional Development Administration Committee (RDAC). It serves as the coordinating and monitoring body of the ARMM that oversees implementation of WatSan projects in the region.
