In view of strengthening land use-related initiatives in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), the Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC), chaired by the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES-ORG) and co-chaired by the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO), convened its Regular Meeting for CY 2015 on December 3, 2015 at the OES Conference Room, ORG, Cotabato City.
The meeting was participated in by officials and heads from the Committee members agencies such as Office of the Executive Secretary (OES-ORG), Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO), Office of the Attorney General (OAG-ORG), Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Tourism (DOT) and Office of the Regional Treasurer (ORT).
Presented and discussed were Organization of Provincial Land Use Committee (PLUC), Orientation on the Conduct of the Review and Approval Process by PLUC, Roll-out of New Approved CLUP Guidelines, Cadastral Survey Updates and Fast Land Conversion.
Subsequent to the discussion, the Committee had passed two (2) resolutions such as resolution encouraging the local government units (LGUs) to come up with policy regulating land conversion of agricultural lands to industrial purposes and a resolution directing RPDO and HLURB to prepare a proposal for Capacity Building to be submitted to development partners for possible funding source.
The Committee also agreed to conduct a workshop on mainstreaming Climate Change and Disaster Risk Assessment (CCDRA) for its members and RPDO staff.
Engr. Baintan A. Ampatuan, RPDO Executive Director, said in her closing remarks that the Committee needs to raise consciousness of the LGUs for a more systematic process on the conversion of land.
The RLUC is one of the special committees of the Regional Economic and Development Planning Board (REDPB) that addresses all matters concerning land use and physical planning in the autonomous region.
