The Regional Project Monitoring Committee of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RPMC-ARMM) monitored and geo-tagged projects under 2012 to 2016 ARMM Annual Infrastructure in the province of Basilan last February 29-March 4, 2016.
The RPMC team was composed of representatives from the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO), Technical Management Services-Office of the Regional Governor (TMS-ORG), Maranao Development Center (MARADECA) Inc. The team was also accompanied by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), as the lead implementing regional line agency in infrastructure projects.
The team said that the activity was highlighted by the construction and concreting of 55 kilometers Basilan Transcentral Road between cities of Lamitan and Isabela, and the municipalities of Maluso and Sumisip, edifice of Bulingan bridge as well as the seaport of Bulibuli, Sumisip.
Environmental protection infrastructure projects were also identified by the team which were the construction of seawall for shore protection along Atong- Atong, Malibang Road at Lantawan, and drainages in the Sumisip.
Other infrastructure projects inspected were road networks, bridges, and water system level III located specifically at the six (6) municipalities namely Lamitan, Tipo-Tipo, Lantawan, Akbar, Sumisip, and Maluso.
As a result, the team found out that the infrastructure projects adhered to the engineering quality standards.
Engr. Macapado D. Benito, chief of the RPDO Infrastructure Planning Division, said that the projects' implementation will help increase employment and livelihood opportunities, and improve delivery of goods and services. "Once new paved road is completed, peace and development will progress," he added.
The data collated by the team will be encoded in the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) database accessible to the public. The said database was created by RPDO under the directive of Executive Director Engr. Baintan A. Ampatuan.
