RSC in Search for the Next Outstanding Volunteers Cotabato City, Philippines -- The Regional Steering Committee convened in a meeting for an Orientation on the 2015 Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) held May 15, 2015 at the RPDO Conference Hall, ARMM Compound.

Various organizations attended the meeting namely: Bureau of Public Information (BPI-ARMM), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-ARMM), Community and Family Services International (CFSI), Save the Children, Alliance of Bangsamoro for Peace and Sustainable Development, Inc. (ABPSD), and Muslim Youth Religious Organization (MYRO).

Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, RPDO Executive Director and RSC-ARMM chairperson highlighted that the primary purpose of the meeting was to orient the RSC-SOV partners on the 2015 SOV and generate support of partners for disseminating information on the search.

Ms. Melanie M. Indar, RPDO Chief of the Macro-Economic Planning Division (MEPD) presented the guidelines for the 2015 SOV which includes the types and categories of awards, qualifications for nomination, criteria for evaluation, search and nomination process, prohibitions and provisions, and conferment of awards.

She emphasized that the activity aims to highlight the exemplary performance and dedication to service of ARMM Filipino volunteers in helping people and communities and recognize the role of volunteerism in development and nation-building.

The RSC-SOV was created in accordance to the two legal bases; a) Presidential Decree No. 55 “Declaring the Month of December of Every Year as the National Volunteer Month”, and b) Republic Act No. 9418 “An Act Institutionalizing a Strategy for Rural Development, Strengthening Volunteerism and for Other Purposes”.
