RPDO-ARMM wins the 2013 DOH RED ORCHID AWARDS under Public Offices Category for Central Mindanao

Cotabato City, Philippines – Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial, Area Cluster Assistantred orchid2 Secretary for Visayas and Dr. Enrique A. Tayag, Assistant Secretary for Support to Service Delivery Technical Cluster II of the Department of Health Central Office, conferred the prestigious 2013 DOH RED ORCHID Awards to the Regional Planning and Development Office-ARMM in the Zonal Awarding Ceremonies for Mindanao held on June 20, 2013 at SMX, SM Lanang, Davao City. The awards rite is the DOH Annual Search for 100% Tobacco-Free Provinces, Municipalities, Cities, Government Offices, Government Hospitals and DOH Center for Health Development.

The recognition was adjudged based on the comprehensive criteria to implement a 100% Tobacco-Free Environment anchored on standard parameters set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and pursuant to the Philippine Civil Service Commission’s Memorandum Circular No. 17, series of 2009 on Smoke-Free Environment Policy through the “MPOWER” tobacco control policies, which means: M-monitor tobacco use and prevention policies; P-protect people from tobacco smoke; O-offer help to quit tobacco use; W-warn about dangers of tobacco; E-enforce bans on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship; and R-raise taxes on tobacco.

RSCC-ARMM Convenes its First Regular Meeting for CY 2013

meetingCotabato City-The Regional Statistical Coordination Committee (RSCC) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao convened its first regular meeting on May 2, 2013 at the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) Conference Room, ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.

The RPDO being the chair and technical secretariat of the committee facilitated the holding of the RSCC meeting attended by the member agencies: NSO, DILG, DOLE, DOH, DTI, DOST, DAF, ORT, OSCC, NSCB XII, PCA, RBMO, ORG (Cabsec and TMS), and representative from Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

RPMC-ARMM Interface Meeting with LGUs of Maguindanao on ARMM H.E.L.P.S. Convergence

– The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC)-ARMM Chaired by the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) spearheaded an Interface Meeting with the Local Government of Maguindanao held at Buluan, Maguindanao on May 9, 2013. The meeting is a follow-through activity to strengthen coordination through an institutional mechanism to effect project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

The meeting is a follow-through activity of the two-day ARMM H.E.L.P.S. Convergence Workshop in Davao City last April 29-30, 2013. It aims to organize the Project Monitoring Committees at the provincial and municipal levels to effect monitoring and evaluation of projects implemented in the province. Among others, it was agreed that the provincial government will prepare a provincial ARMM H.E.L.P.S. structure to complement the regional ARMM H.E.L.P.S. structure. The Provincial Project Monitoring Committee (PMC) shall also be organized by the province. Focal persons shall be officially designated under the ARMM H.E.L.P.S. convergence for sustainability, close project coordination and effective project implementation.

convmeetingCotabato City - The first ARMM H.E.L.P.S. Convergence Orientation/Feedbacking and Initial Assessment Workshop was conducted last April 29-30, 2013 at Apo View Hotel, Davao City.

No less than 200 participants from the provincial and regional implementing agencies of the ARMM attended the two-day activity conducted by the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) in coordination with the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) with assistance from the ARMM Social Fund Project (ASFP).

pioCotabato City – Organized by the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) and the Bureau of Public Information, a two (2) day ARMM Public Information Officers’ Writeshop in support to the ARMM-H.E.L.P.S. Convergence was conducted on April 10-11, 2013 at the RPDO-ARMM Conference Hall, Cotabato City.

The ARMM H.E.L.P.S. which stands for Health, Education, Livelihood, Peace and Governance and Synergy is the banner program of the present leadership of OIC-Regional Governor Hon. Mujiv S. Hataman that aims to bring the services of the regional government closer to its constituents through the delivery of integrated and more focused interventions in identified convergence areas.

‘ARMM H.E.L.P.S.’ Brings hungry folks ‘taste of city’

basilan4ALBARKA, BASILAN – “I will bring this to share with my children because this is our first time to savour the taste of the city “Nanam da ira,” said a Yakan woman when she received a packed lunch of Jollibee Chicken Joy, courtesy of the Department of Trade and Industry –Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Officials and workers of the Department of Trade and Industry-ARMM had picked the “nanam da ira” (Yakan for “taste of the city”) from a beneficiary of orientation on small business management conducted by the agency during the launching of the ARMM-H.E.L.P.S. on February 7, 2013 in Barangay Cambug, Al Barka.

Professor Sangkula A. Tindick, Regional Secretary of DTI-ARMM noticed that some of the participants opted to keep their Jollibee lunch packs untouched as others partook of their shares. When the Secretary asked them why, a woman in her late 30s answered: “I’ll take home the “Nanam Da Ira “taste of the city” for my children.
