Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, RPDO Executive Director stressed in her opening remarks during the Orientation on the Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM) conducted by the Civil Service Commission of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CSC-ARMM) held yesterday, July 2, 2015 at the RPDO Conference Hall, ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.

RPDO-ARMM conducts an Orientation on the Virtues of Taraweh

RPDO-ARMM conducts an Orientation on the Virtues of Taraweh Islam believers trooped at the Ramadhan fair inside the ARMM Compound held July 1, 2015 to attend the Orientation on the Virtues of Taraweh, an activity sponsored by the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO), as one of the highlights of the Holy month of Ramadhan.

Mr. Palawan T. Mamaon, Planning Officer I of the RPDO-Social Planning Division who welcomed the attendees said that the orientation is significant to all Islam believers because they will be provided knowledge on the importance of Taraweh.

Ustadz Faizal Dakungan, an Islamic scholar and the guest speaker emphasized that the word Taraweh comes from the word Raja which means to rest.

"Taraweh is an additional reward which Allah (S.W.T) gives. It is only performed during Ramadhan. One Taraweh is converted into 70 rewards. Also, if an Islam believer performs 12 Sunnah in a day, he/she will be given a place or a house in paradise", Ustadz Dakungan added.

The orientation ended with a short game wherein the attendees answered the questions based on the lecture of Ustadz Dakungan. The winners were given prizes such as surban, and hijab.

RPDO which is headed by Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, supports activities promoting Islam religion and values.

Strengthening Government Initiatives in the Road for Stable Development

The Social Development Committee (SDC) convened during the conduct of the National Regional Consultative Meeting held last June 25-26, 2015 at the Astoria Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

The SDC is an inter-agency committee that advises the President and the National Economic and Development Agency (NEDA) Board on matters concerning social development including education, manpower, health and nutrition, population and family planning, housing, human settlements, and the delivery of other social services of the 17 regions in the country. Based on this, it recommends appropriate policies, programs, and projects consistent with the national development objectives.

The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) represented by the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES), and Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO) participated in the said meeting.

The RPDO, as the technical secretariat of the Regional Social Development Committee in ARMM (RSDC-ARMM) headed by Executive Director Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, facilitated the inclusion of regional issues and concerns that were discussed and deliberated during the meeting.

Ms. Alia Raida A. Macaumbos, Chief of the RPDO-Social Planning Division (SPD) said that the meeting was an opportunity which tackled the social-related problems that needs to be elevated to the national committee level.

On the first day of the meeting, the agenda discussed were the application of Normative Funding in the Allocation of Expenditures to State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), K to 12 Transition Program, Results of the APEC discussions and agreements related to social protection and labor, Review of 1991 Local Government Code, Convergence initiatives, Implication of ASEAN integration on the Philippine Labor Market and Skills requirements, Enhanced local shelter planning guidelines, and Updates/status of initiatives to expand Philhealth coverage of the informal sector.

On the second day, the meeting was focused on the deliberation of Regional Issues and Concerns and the presentation of the ARMM-Humanitarian and Development Action Plan (HDAP) 2015-2016 by Atty. Laisa Masuhud-Alamia, ORG-Executive Secretary.

The ARMM-HDAP is one of the government initiatives in addressing the immediate needs of the economic, social, and conflict-stricken communities in the region especially in the Maguindanao province.

ARMM Development Partners supports the ARMM-HDAP The Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) through the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES), in close coordination with the Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO-ARMM) conducted the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Humanitarian and Development Action Plan (ARMM-HDAP) Forum with Development Partners last June 11, 2015 at the Holiday Inn and Suites Makati, Palm Drive, Ayala Center, Makati City.

Officials and representatives of the Official Development Assistance (ODAs) including the national line agencies, and ARMM regional line agencies attended the forum.

The activity primarily aimed at generating support and strengthening partnership and collaboration in the implementation of priority programs and projects in the 15 municipalities affected by the all-out offensive by the military against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

RPDO-ARMM joins High Impact 5 (HI-5) Parade and Health Summit The Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO-ARMM) marched with other ARMM government agencies during the High Impact 5 (HI-5) parade and Health Summit, spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH-ARMM) held yesterday, June 8, 2015 at the ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.

With the theme “Sa Tuwid na Daan, Kalusugang Tuloy-Tuloy Para sa Pamilyang Bangsamoro”, the HI-5 highlighted various key issues concerning health such as dwindling maternal and infant death tolls, and enhancing children and infant health care. The program also included activities addressing methods to battle with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS), malaria, and other types of diseases.

The RPDO has been providing technical assistance with DOH-ARMM in planning for health development  programs and projects within the region.

ARMM Technical Staff attends Data Management and Analysis Training Using Stata Software The Regional Planning and Development Office (RPDO-ARMM) in coordination with the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) and World Bank (WB) continued to empower the technical staff of the various Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) line agencies by imparting them opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills through the three-day training entitled, “ARMM Training Series 1: National Income Accounts, Growth Accounting and Basic Data Management and Analysis Using Stata” held last June 4-6, 2015 at the RPDO Conference Hall, ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.

Engr.Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, RPDO Executive Director said that the training was just an introduction to the next series of training.

In her closing statement, she has reiterated the objectives of the training such as: 1) prepare a socio-economic profile, and 2) quarterly comprehensive economic situations of ARMM.

Mr. Assad Baunto, a WB consultant and one of the resource speakers of the training expressed gratitude for giving them privilege to share to the participants the theories and concepts of national income accounts and growth accounting, and managing data for analysis using Stata software.

He added that the lectures shared by the WB were very vital in structuring the socio-economic data of the region.

The training is expected to have a 2nd series which will emphasize on technical writing to further improve the skills of the participants.
